Isaiah Katumwa, a Ugandan born jazz musician living in the US launched his new album “Dance Again” on May 18th. The album is mainly influenced by Jazz music and features ten tracks with catchy tunes to keep you grooving all day long.
Isaiah’s inspiration for the album came from his life story which includes moving around different countries getting to know himself through various cultures and people while dancing as a way of coping. Isaiah has also helped other youth in Uganda find their voice through dance and performance arts workshops such as Hip Hop 4 Purpose founded by Kenner Cabrales (also an immigrant). He hopes that his music will inspire others to create art without fear or judgement.
“As the world faced the worst fear of our generation with the pandemic, lost loved ones and friends, life was now different. The thought of joyful dancing had become strange , I missed being on stage with my audience dancing…and the question was, will we ever be able to Dance Again?”
According to Katumwa, the new album was inspired by the pandemic. As he missed being on stage, performing for his fans, he created some music.
He further reveals that the album will feature his longtime idol Dove Koz and he is excited go finally drop new music for his fans.
‘Dance Again’ reflects Isaiah’s vast array of musical influences, from jazz and pop to Afropop and Latin music.
The collection features tracks produced by two of urban jazz’s most acclaimed, sought after artist/producers, Darren Rahn and Adam Hawley.
The album can be found on Youtube,Spotify, Applemusic among others
